This indoor swimming facility has been expanded for a growing population. The original building from 1978 was designed by Åke Östin. Our addition creates a new volume that looks out over the new outdoor sports field to the west. The new pool space is cradled by two parallel wood-paneled walls that seem to spring from a granite outcropping together with a concrete base - its characteristic, rough-hewn wood formwork still exposed.
The indoor swimming pool received an honorary mention in the 2015 Tile Award!

Client Intresseföreningen Bergslaget
Together with Föreningen Bergslaget (the Association of Bergslaget) and other local organizations, we created a strategic development plan and program content for a historical building that was a part of the mining site in Grängesberg. Our responsibilities also included the development of a wayfinding system that presents the history of the site. Our response was a series of information pavilions that mark significant locations and allow the visitor places for both views and contemplation. A restoration of the historical building included both façades and windows.
Presently, the building is being used as an exhibition hall.

Client Välle Broar, CBBT
This was a competition proposal for a new tennis hall in which the brief requested a future-oriented proposal utilizing wood construction. Our vision incorporated an earth embankment that surrounded and enclosed the functional spaces such as changing rooms, a snack bar and storage areas, as well as created a base for the spectator stands. On top of this hovered a large-scale wooden structure that formed the roof of the tennis courts.

Client Stockholm City Library
This project was one of the outcomes of our workshop series, in which we established a strategic development plan for new branch libraries. This was done together with the Stockholm City Library system. It is based on the idea that libraries need to be located where large flows of people are. Visibility and clarity were two essential components that led us to develop a clear color palette for visual communication. In the tiny space located underground, next to the subway entrance, we proposed an interior with clearly identifiable zones that allow for both smaller discussions and quiet concentration.
