Thanks to the enthusiasm of our team, Urban Design has been able to engage in a wide range of issues concerning environmentally sustainable development. Our focus is always on the possibilities that an environmentally responsible approach can contribute to projects and working methods – all leading to added value, delight and a shared feeling of commitment and responsibility to ourselves and future generations.

Material and energy are two critical areas of interest in the building industry, particularly when it comes to environment and resource use. In our large-scale projects, a systems approach is often the point of departure. The more we learn, the more it becomes obvious that the answers to our present challenges are not given, rather it is a constant striving towards innovative solutions that engage us. Our goal is to use our creativity and a broad network-based approach to lead the way in this rapidly developing field.

Urban Design actively seeks new projects that allow us to work with these issues. We do this within the scope of our assignments, but also through engagement in seminars and exhibitions. We work small-scale and pragmatically, as well as big and visionary. Energicity is one such example of a project we initiated that envisions the development of the city of Stockholm based on the extension of its district heating system. A series of projects for the energy company Fortum demonstrate our commitment to problem-solving and energy infrastructure as a vehicle for adding new urban qualities. Drivhus - our winning proposal for the new planning and administrative offices for the city of Stockholm is one of the latest examples of our approach - visionary architecture that can inspire and add new value goes hand-in-hand with an advanced environmental approach.
